The Luthier's Valse, or 'the dance of the restorer', is a workshop in the heart of violin making country. The workshop offers training for the serious restorer and courses for those looking to learn a new skill, and also takes on commissions for some of the most prized instruments in the world.

The workshop also offers for sale rare and unique instruments from makers local and afar.

In 2006, Floriane discovered the violin making world through Harriet Kjaer workshop in Nantes (France). Under her recommendation she then joined the International School of Violin Making in Newark (UK).

​

Floriane has years of experience working on fine instruments, such as a Panormo Cello, Gosselin violin and many more.

​

She opened her workshop in 2019 with an open-door, relaxed vibe, where anyone is welcome to pop in for a coffee.

After teaching for 17 years at the School of Musical Instrument Crafts in  Newark, he now focuses on more intensive training for smaller groups.

Paul graduated with distinction in 1986 has has gone on to work on some of the finest instruments in the world.

Carla has always been creative. Her passion into woodwork and craft started in 2015 when she studied guitar making at the world renowned School of Musical Instrument Crafts at Newark College.

​

Pursuing this passion, she embarked on a work experience placement with The Luthiers Valse, where she started on repairs of quatuor instruments. In 2019, she joined the bow re-hair course under the tutorship of Konstantinos Karadimas and fell in love with the craft.  She excelled and has become the resident go-to for bow repairs and re-hairs in the workshop.
